closet cleaning season

the seasons are changing, and i’ve been going through yet another massive closet-cleaning session, getting ready to let go of all those clothes that have just been taking up space in my closet. this time, i’m saying goodbye to a ton of cute party dresses by boutique designers, as well as a good chunk of barely worn high street pieces. unfortunately, while i might be long on clothes, i’m short on time. so for this round, i’ve teamed up with twice to offer you the chance to shop my closet. this week, i’ve been packing up dozens of dresses, separates, shoes, and bags for an upcoming calivintage pop up shop! all of the pieces you see here (and like 80 more pieces) will be up for sale online very soon!

the nice thing about the service is that all you have to do is request a selling kit and then ship off all of your used items to be photographed and listed for sale on the site. from there, you simply wait for a check in the mail. i just don’t have the manpower to list all of this stuff online and then pack and ship that many boxes, so this really is the next best thing. everything will be ready to go soon, so consider this your sneak peek. and i’ll give you guys the heads-up when the pop up shop is open!

goodnight, day fall 2014

despite the fact that the highs will be reaching near 90 degrees this week (in october!), we have been generally experiencing our first hints at cooler weather. which makes the novelty of bundling up in warm, cozy knits all the more exciting around these parts. last week, we all exclaimed how chilly it was when the morning temperatures dropped to 50 degrees, haha! and i pulled out my sweaters so i could wear them at least during the early hours of the day. so of course, it only seems fitting to share the fall 2014 lookbook from one of my favorite knitwear designers, good night, day. i’ve been following tara lynn online since probably before i even started this blog. and i’ve continued to admire not only her work, but her dedication to hand-crafting beautiful knits with sustainability and fare wages at heart. she knits every piece with fairly traded natural wools from south america. not only that, but in addition to all of the hand-knits you see here, she has published a series of knitting books, so you can try your hand at making your own!

little lion

my poor little baby was having a rough time teething last night, but he was still a good sport and let us dress him up like a little gentleman lion for halloween. our neighborhood here in redlands takes the festivities very seriously. we live in the downtown historic district, and several main thoroughfares close to traffic to accommodate the over 17,000 trick-or-treaters who flock to the area to get a look at the fantastic halloween decorations and haunted houses lining the streets. that and the candy, of course. it was actually a little too hectic for my taste. we walked down the street to let adam look at all the excitement, but the crowds were so large that we decided to go back home to enjoy the lighter trickle of kids passing by.
