outfit: blluemade

i’m sure by now you know all about my dedication to linen. over the past several years, it has become a prominent textile in my wardrobe for a number of reasons. for starters, it’s a much more sustainable material than cotton because it requires far less pesticides to be grown. it also gets softer with each wash, and is incredible comfortable and breathable. it’s typically considered a summer material, but it comes in all different weights, making it a practical choice for all seasons, especially if you live in california.

which brings me to blluemade. just launched earlier in 2016, the brand sources high-quality linen from belgium, and designs and manufactures all of their garments here in the united states. the husband and wife team behind the brand both come from backgrounds in art history and philosophy, and they’ve joined forces to create such an elegant and timeless collection. they are both huge fans of indigo, and are inspired by vintage workwear, which are two things i absolutely love. so of course you know i’m a huge fan. i’m wearing their modern smock shirt and wrap skirt, which look great together, but are also really fun to mix and match with your existing wardrobe.

the best part is that everything on the site is currently 30% off with code ‘FEB30’ from now until the end of february! after that, these pieces won’t be back, so hop to it while the deal is still on!

  1. These are some of my favorite looks of yours! I’m currently pregnant and can’t wait to be able to wear Kamm (or Kamm-esque pants). Speaking of which, thanks for all your maternity inspiration!

    1. ah, thank you! and i know the feeling. i bought a pair of kamm pants like one month before i got pregnant with edie and it drove me nuts that i couldn’t wear them! it took forever before i could fit in them again, so i think that’s why i went nuts and bought several more pairs in different colors, haha! they are the best and they only get better with wear, kinda like a good pair of jeans.

also i’m so glad my maternity outfits are some help! it’s hard enough work growing a baby, let alone trying to find outfits that are cute and comfortable. also, more importantly: congratulations!! :)

  2. Mind if I ask what size you take in the JK pants and how the tobacco color treats you on hotter days? Thinking of finally going for it and trying to figure out how they’ll be year-round :)

    1. i have a 28″ waist/37″ hip and wear the mediums! the sizing does run a tad small, particularly in the butt/hip area, which is why people tend to size up! the wide leg makes them a lot more comfortable in the heat than slimmer pants, but i don’t think i’d wear them on a really sweltering hot day (like 100 degrees) because they are thick, which is awesome because they do wear a lot like 100% non-stretch denim. they get softer and get more character over time! i now have 4 pairs and do not regret any of them!!

      1. Thanks Erin! I figured if you were rocking them in so many colors in southern CA they weren’t terrible in the heat. I think I’m going to try the L (tried a M in black and they were great in the hips but just a little too snug in the waist since I’m 28.5-29 depending on the day/meal). xo

        1. fyi, they do actually stretch out a little, kinda like a pair of jeans. they shrink back up in the wash, but always relax back out again after wearing. i would definitely leans towards the snug side, personally.

          1. Maybe I *need* them in two sizes just to be safe… :) thank you again for the advice! I’m headed to Morocco and London in a week so fingers crossed they arrive in time for the journey.
