if you’ve followed my blog for a long time, then one thing you may have noticed about me is that i hardly ever wear something low cut. it’s funny, because i think a lot of people assume it has something to do with modesty. but if i may be frank, it’s because i have really big boobs. my size fluctuates a bit, but i’m currently fitting into a 32F. and i know this probably sounds like sacrilege, but to be completely honest, i do not love it. and i am forever envious of my smaller busted friends who talk about the liberation of going braless– and wearing all sorts of revealing clothes while doing so. unfortunately for me, that is literally not possible– especially because i’m still breastfeeding, but also because it is not a comfortable (or socially acceptable) option for those of us who are naturally very well-endowed.
i tend to wear full-coverage bras with lots of support to hold me in place, to push everything upwards and inwards– and out of sight. it’s never particularly bothered me because in many ways, it’s just how i feel more comfortable. but lately, i’ve been itching for a change. maybe it’s because i’ve gotten older. or maybe it’s because i’ve had two kids and i just don’t feel the same way about my body as i used to. maybe it’s the patriarchy getting me down, but what they heck? why not show a little more skin every once in a while?
so this season, i challenged myself to try some new clothes. i picked out a few new things for spring, including this reversible tank top with a deep v that can be worn in front or in back. i thought i would just wear the v in the back, but then i discovered the new thirdlove perfect contour plunge bra. i often choose clothes with more coverage to avoid showing any lace or straps, but if you’re wearing the right bra, who’s to say it’s such a bad thing to get a little peek of an elegant detail? the perfect contour plunge has an elegant sheer mesh overlay along the front, and most importantly, it is made with super-soft memory foam cups that provides a very natural lift that is universally flattering, even for someone with an F cup like me. it is very soft and comfortable, while still actually providing support. and dare i say, i might be liking it even better than my usual full coverage bras. it’s given me the freedom to change things up with my wardrobe, and it’s made me realize that there are other ways to be comfortable in a bra that don’t involve always being covered up!

You look so gorgeous in the low cut blue top! It’s so flattering with your skin tone. Embrace the curves God gave ya! :-)
thank you! :)
You’ve mentioned your size in the past. I have been an A, B, C, D, and DD bra size because of child bearing and breast feeding. I was an A for the LONGEST time and used to hate it. Then I grew with pregnancy and more so with nursing (though man, those were hard as rocks). Now I am a C (though one of my breasts is more like a B 1/2) and miss my A cup breasts. Funny how that happens. I do like them, but definitely don’t want them any larger. I can imagine how much more difficult an F would be to hide. That is very large. I am sure that has been hard on you, and I am sorry for your suffering. These bras seem wonderful. I am trying to find some information though on their sourcing and ethics and am coming up short.
Did you go with a medium or large in that tank top? Thankfully at 13 weeks my FF’s haven’t grown too much and I can still fit into my normal bras, but I am definitely nervous about getting much bigger, haha. I feel like that tank might be really nice paired with a full skirt pulled over the belly. Thankfully there is a local shop here who will tailor a regular bra into a nursing bra, which will be great when the time comes.
it’s a small! my bust measures 36″ around for reference! i find that esby runs on the large side. i had the jumpsuit version of this tank top in a medium while i was pregnant with edie and was able to wear it throughout most of the pregnancy (but not at the very end)!
and yes to the tailoring! i found a kit for converting bras from etsy and did the same thing! made a huge difference while nursing!
Hey! same boob size, same problem. I highly recommend Heidi Klum Intimates, she is one of the only designers I know who makes really fun, unique bras for bigger sizes, most of her stuff carries to a 32f (and even G!) I even own a 100% silk bra by her brand, which is insane cause most brands won’t do flimsy stuff in larger sizes. Anyway, thank you for the third love tip! :)
ooh, thanks for the tip! yes, i have only just recently ventured into less structured styles, so this is great to know! thank you!
