decadence

calivintage: decadence
today i got dressed up all fancy-like in my fur stole, benetton sweater, and pretty new black lace dress. for the past several months, i feel as though i’ve gotten away from more feminine looks such as this one, but recently i’ve been getting more excited about layering sweaters and cardigans with pretty vintage (or vintage-inspired) dresses, warm tights, and tall heels.  something about this particular look made me feel especially rich and decadent and it offered me an air of sophistication for the day (at least in my head!).
now that i’m on the hunt for more vintage dresses, i decided to check out the local vintage boutiques over the weekend with the hopes of scoring some new loot!  but alas, i went home empty handed without even a simple cardigan to show for it.  i feel like i sometimes talk about scoring vintage like it’s no big thing.  but it’s amazing how much of a challenge it really can be to find good vintage dresses that are not only pretty, but that actually fit.  good thing i’ll always have next weekend!
fur: thrifted vintage fur stole, gift from my mom

  1. I'm absolutely in love with that lace dress.
I've been keeping an eye out for a nice one for a while. I found the perfect one for me a while back but didn't buy it due to cash shortage. I was a fool.

  2. You are very lucky and wear the 'girly' styles plus other styles very well. They all suit you. I am always envious of that vintage stole

  3. this is such a perfect outfit! i have a REALLY REALLY hard time finding vintage that fits me…even though i sell it on etsy, it's so hard for me to buy (that's why i accept returns!!) :)

  4. Such a gorgeous dress beautifully paired as ever :)

Every time something second hand is actually my size I have to pinch myself ;) Such a rarity hehe

  5. It really is frustrating to go vintage shopping sometimes. More often than not, I go home empty-handed. I usually buy at least one thing at the thrift store, but vintage boutiques always seem like such an investment.

I think you've been pulling off these girly looks wonderfully! I love it :)

  7. the stole looks cute with this. Makes me want to wear my 1964 mink stole that my friend gave me after her grandmother died. I have a hard time finding vintage dresses in my size. I guess there weren't any flat chested skinny women in the 40s and 50s.

Your dress looks beautiful on you. It really does look all decadent.

  8. love the look, I wish l
I live more near vintage store, everytime I go vintage shopping always get empty hand

  9. I love the fur collar! I has considered buying one on ASOS, but living in Australia not many people really wear fur, and I don't think I would either :P
    Love your shoes too :)

  10. Great outfit!

You win some, you lose some with thrifting. There's no point grabbing something just for the sake of it.

  11. I love how glamorous this outfit is–yet isn't too impractical for a day-to-day outfit! :) So fun! I'm coveting that fur collar!

  12. This dress is simply divine. You wear it in a way I wouldn't have thought of (you cleaver creative girl).

I'm glad to see you're changing it up, but I am a fan of your cute little vintage or vintage-esque sweaters.

  13. This is all so pretty pretty pretty… but still quite an unusual combination, and colours, so it isn't at all over the top. It has a kind of faded decadence vibe to it.

  14. i sometimes also have the feeling to dress more girly, especially because i'm not really a high heels type of person. they look great on others, but not to me – i still have to work on that part :) however, your today's outfit is great, love the combination with the lace dress and the heels.

  15. gosh, i love the skirt. i've always been a skirt-and-dress person. and oh by the way, the shoes too. i remember back in highschool, i would wear something like that and my classmates would tease me. :(
