rachel antonoff fall 2014

rachel antonoff has just released her fall 2014 looks along with another charming short film, and as always, i’m quite smitten with her collection. this season, she drew inspiration from shockproof sydney skate, a 1970s a coming-of-age  novel written by marijane meaker, often credited as the creator of  the genre “lesbian pulp fiction.” antonoff’s no smoking motifs and are a reference to one of the main characters who was often found with matchbooks filling her pockets and purses. i particularly love the embroidered collars and a white silk novelty print on a cute cocktail dress and a fun pair of palazzo pants.

mona spring 2014

if you’re craving something sweet and whimsical, then you’ll be happy to know that tel aviv-based designer mona has just released her spring 2014 collection, aptly titled tutti frutti. designer moriah hemed described:

this collection was inspired by summer desserts, especially fruit salad and ice cream. summer to me is about going to the beach with a box full of fruit pieces that are still chilly from the fridge. buying an ice cream from the “ice cream man” and racing to eat it all before the sun makes it drip down my arm like a little girl.

this season she also collaborated with illustrator, yifat petraro who helped to create the fruit fabric that you see incorporated into some of the details in the collection. the result is a bright and crisp collection so perfect for wearing on those hot summer days.

lauren moffatt fall 2014

today i’m excited to share a preview of the upcoming lauren moffatt fall 2014 collection. her designs have long been favorites of mine, and once again, she doesn’t fail to disappoint with a huge collection filled with amazing prints and patterns, plenty of separates to mix and match, and some really awesome knitwear and outerwear. there really is something for everyone in this cool collection, and the styling is spot-on as usual.

dream collective spring 2014

i’ve spent a bit of time putting together a small collection of jewelry recently, and while most of the pieces i’ve been picking up are dainty pieces that i know i can wear every day, it’s also nice to have a few statement pieces. and for that, i look to the beautifully hand-crafted jewels designed by katherine bently of la-based dream collective. i am still a bit obsessed with this evil eye cuff, but i’m also falling pretty hard for this new spring 2014 collection.

ymc spring 2014

it’s been a few seasons, but the new ymc spring 2014 collection really caught my attention. it started with that perfect navy eyelet dress above, and as i continued scrolling through the looks, i really started to appreciate the little details on these cool pieces. whether it’s a dip-dyed hem on a simple denim dress, or an unexpected space-dyed yarn on a comfy striped sweater, every look has something interesting and unexpected to offer.

family affairs spring 2014

a few months back, i posted a little preview of the family affairs spring 2014 collection that i shot on a particularly sweltering nyc day. as always, it was fun to share a peek at what was to come. and now that it is almost officially spring, i thought i’d share the official look book featuring some of my favorite family affairs standbys along with a really cute selection of fun little halters and bralettes for wearing on hot and hazy summer days by the lake. once again, designer nina produced her own hand-illustrated prints with a particularly cheeky pattern of red lips with tiny little braces on a toothy grin. of her inspiration, nina says:

this collection is inspired by the golden, sharp light of the southwest, salty, white walls at the port in marseille, italian ice cream parlors of the ’80s,picking strawberries on a swedish farm, hiding behind the greenery to make out, eating watermelon on an old fishing boat in biarritz, roller skating disco to the sounds of david bowie.

she has just released the collection right here!

elizabeth suzann spring 2014

i first discovered elizabeth suzann and her namesake nashville-based collection several months back. i took one look at her work and fell in love with the minimal aesthetic and fine fabrics, and after a few email exchanges, she so very sweetly sent me one of her dresses. unfortunately, i was pregnant at the time and my belly grew so rapidly that i had to banish it on my rack of clothes until i could finally fit back into it! over the weekend, i finally pulled it on with a crisp white t-shirt (instagram proof here) and now it is all i want to wear! and lucky me, she’s just released her new spring 2014 collection which is now available for preorder. and wouldn’t you know? after all of my recent swooning over jumpsuits, she’s designed the perfect one!

hatch spring 2014

i may no longer be pregnant, but i still can’t keep my eyes off the new hatch spring 2014 collection. i think it’s my favorite to date! someone must have sent them the memo about how every pregnant woman looks awesome in stripes. i know i most frequently rotated between a striped pencil skirt and a breton stripe shirt during my pregnancy because they were soft and comfy, but still had an element of simple style. so of course, i really like these playful pieces for spring. in fact, i might actually buy a top or pair of pants to add to my wardrobe for spring!

family affairs fall 2014

this season was the first time in a few years that i wasn’t able to visit nina in her studio to preview the latest collection during fashion week. it was hard to be away, but she sent me the images from the family affairs fall 2014 lookbook, which served as a bit of consolation. the collection, titled “milk and honey,” was inspired by:

“tea dances in london when you are wearing your patent leather dancing shoes for the first time, marguerite duras’ melancholy romance, silent movie stars in underwater films, witch potions and mornings listening to records in bed while it snows outside. “

i love the other-wordly vibe of this shoot and collection. for the prints, nina created her own alchemy symbols  referencing irish fairytales and italian futurism. it’s a fun mix of references. there are plenty of sweet dresses, but i’m also really enjoying the addition of high-rise trousers and some really cool oversized blazers for the season.
