jane sews spring 2013

one of my favorite things about the internet is being able to discover new brands and to connect with people all across the globe. which is exactly what happened yesterday when i received a little press release announcing the jane sews spring 2013 collection. i don’t think i had ever heard of them before, but one look at this fresh lookbook and i was hooked. they are a small label based in durban, south africa creating easy-to-wear vintage-inspired pieces using natural fabrics and timeless silhouettes. that pretty much sums up what i want my closet to look like, so of course, i am now lusting after many of these dresses and separates.

go explore by need supply co.

i discovered this little gem sitting in my inbox while i was away. go explore is a new limited edition collection by need supply co. created in collaboration with dusen dusen, collina strada, and black crane. the intention of the collection is to “capture the spirit of transition, the energy of life in flux, and the power of exploration.” and as i find myself in such a position these days, i think this collection would be the perfect uniform for my own travels and transitions. i’m especially in love with the dusen dusen pieces, and in particular the collared dress in ferns. get into my closet!

young frankk summer 2013

i don’t often write about jewelry, but that doesn’t mean i don’t have favorites! one of the first brands to really push me in the direction of wearing a few statement pieces was young frankk jewelry. a couple of years back, christine was kind enough to send me the v steps brass necklace, which quickly became a favorite, and is one of only a few pieces of jewelry i now wear on the regular. so of course i always keep an eye on her ever-expanding collection and find myself drooling over her incredible lookbooks. such was the case with her latest collab lensed by the talented photographer amber mahoney in dreamy coney island.

myrtle “double ep”

today i’m excited to share the newly launched “double ep” lookbook for los angeles based myrtle boutique. i pretty much instantly became a fan after their tomboy style lookbook last summer, but this new collection of dreamy photos shot at echo lake is certainly a match. this time, they teamed up with photographers megan mcisaac and laura taylor who took turns shooting each other in looks from some of my favorite designers including samantha pleet, in god we trust, dusen dusen, and gretchen jones.

orla kiely resort 2014

i have to admit, i’ve mostly been blind to the rush of resort collections that have been sprouting up on the web the past few weeks. some seasons i’m much more “tuned-in” than others, and this spring has just been so hectic outside of blogland that i haven’t had the proper time to just sit and enjoy the collections. having said that, i just got a peek at the orla kiely resort 2014 collection that has pretty much revived my interest in all things fashion. i thought that her fall 2013 collection was the best yet, but i really love the direction for spring. still a lot of very cute collared looks with expert layering and a certain schoolgirlish charm, but with fun polka dot and heart prints and jacquards. and i really had no idea that i would love that kelly green and pale peachy pink together. so yeah, i basically want this entire collection on my body. right now.

in god we trust spring 2013

if you noticed the silence this past week on the blog, i apologize! i went off to visit family over the holiday weekend and came back with a bit of a bug that kept be down enough that i wasn’t even checking my email. it was a blessing and a curse as i am now desperately trying to scramble and catch up before the week ends! but now that i’m finally back on my feet, i thought i’d share the new spring 2013 lookbook from new york-based in god we trust. the entire collection is made and designed right in new york, and this season was all about capturing the essence of summer in the city. owner and designer, shana tabor says:

“as any proper new yorker knows, half the fun of summer is finding ways to get out of the city—whether it be to a beach, a lake house, or upstate for the weekend. honestly, sometimes you just want to get the hell out of town.”

i may not be a new yorker, but i think we can all relate with that desire to hit the road for the weekend. and what better way to do it than in easy silhouettes decked out in silly novelty prints like over-sized sunglasses and world-travelling kitties, or in crisp, clean colors with cool cut-outs and interesting proportions? you can shop the entire collection right here.

it’s ok my dear fall 2013

i know i’ve been on a roll sharing spring lookbooks, but today i couldn’t resist sharing the it’s ok my dear fall 2013 collection. this brooklyn-based brand got it’s start in 2010 by fit graduate ashley cheeks. and for her latest shoot, she teamed up with photographer anna li and model rachel trachtenburg (of supercute! fame) with hair and makeup by brittany romney. the result is a super cool spread featuring cute cat pockets on delicate silk blouses balanced with warm wool shorts and coats for a sweet and sassy fall wardrobe. and what’s even better, is that every piece is lovingly hand-made in new york! and if you don’t want to wait for fall to get a cute cat dress, you can shop the spring collection right here.

rosaspina vintage spring 2013

just last week, i received a very sweet message from ale of rosaspina vintage announcing the released her very first handmade collection! i’ve been following her blog for a while, and had been eagerly anticipating the collection after she shared a series of sneak peeks in the weeks leading up to the release, so it was a very pleasant message indeed. and the story behind the collection is just as wonderful as the collection itself! each piece was designed by ale herself and lovingly handmade by her mother using vintage fabrics from the 1950s and 1960s out of her grandmother’s very own collection. the result is a very special collection of easy printed tops and ladylike pleated skirts with a unique history spanning three generations. there is only a very limited quantity, so if something strikes your fancy, head on over to her online shop now!

victory spring 2013

while visiting portland this weekend, i stumbled upon local shop, victory, and decided to stop in. i was still a bit disoriented from the flight, but i recognized the name of the shop and figured it would be worth a browse. and wouldn’t you know, but there sitting at the counter was shop owner nicole. both of us recognized each other immediately, but it took us just a moment to place each other as “girls of the internet” who have never met in real life, but may have been following each other for a number of years. yes, we are such a strange breed of internet ladies. we sat and talked about clothes and the internet and portland, and i ooh-ed and ahh-ed at her selection of tomboyish goods. so today i thought i’d share her recently released spring 2013 lookbook so you can see some of the selection for yourself! which you can also conveniently shop right here.

the secret garden by summerland boutique

it is very possible that as you read this post, i’m currently boarding a plane headed for portland, oregon. which is quite a coincidence considering that the latest summerland lookbook has just been released by a talented team of portlanders. the online boutique also has a companion brick and mortar shop on burnside st. which i will hopefully have the opportunity to visit this very afternoon! is your mind totally blown? because mine sort of is.

i’m excited to have the chance to browse through the new spring and summer selection including the many pieces so beautifully photographed against so many epic floral scenes in oregon. i can only hope that they’ll get just a bit of sun while i’m there so i can enjoy portland in all of it’s splendor, pretending that i have somehow been transported into the dreamy images from this lookbook.
