lauren moffatt fall 2013

you may remember my photos from the lauren moffatt fall 2013 presentation back in february (see them here). well, today i thought i’d share my favorites from the pretty fall lookbook and a few more looks that weren’t featured in the presentation. the collection was inspired by a weekend away in the catskills of new york, and it’s got plenty of my favorite signature lauren moffatt looks: bright colors, fun prints, pretty lace details, and a perfect mix of textiles like silk, cotton, wool, and leather.

vintage shopping with refinery29

today i thought i’d share one of my recent posts on refinery29 my stylist. i went to one of my favorite shops, pretty penny vintage in oakland, to check out the selection and share a few of my vintage shopping tips. no, it’s not revolutionary by any means, but even a seasoned vintage shopping veteran like myself (wink!) can appreciate a few tips and hints as a little refresher before i venture out on a vintage expedition. there are so many factors to take into account that what should be a fun adventure can sometimes turn into a stressful task. so hopefully you’ll enjoy some of my tips right here!

you can see all of my refinery29 posts here.

hansel from basel summer 2013

i’ve been in southern california for a week now, and while i’ve been a bit too busy to do much exploring, i’ve found myself seeking out cool la brands to add to my list of things to do. which is how i found myself browsing through and old favorite, the la-based hansel from basel, where i came across these dreamy new photos for their summer 2013 collection. their cute socks designs are always so fresh and unique. once again reminding me that i really ought to try out more legwear!

betina lou fall 2013

since i teased you by mentioning the new betina lou fall 2013 collection in yesterday’s post, i figured i might as well share it with you! fall is creeping up on us and, as always, it’ll be here before we know it. and there’s something kinda fun about that back-to-school time of year when all of the stores have folders and crayons on sale. brings me back to those days when i would lay out my outfit the night before the first day of school. and while i’m still trying to collect clothes to keep me through the summer, it’s kinda fun to start planning for fall. and i just love the subtle mix of tartan and deep dark shades in classic silhouettes and luxurious fabrics like silk, boiled wool, and viyella cotton in this timeless collection.

betina lou spring 2013

this morning i received an email announcing the latest fall collection from betina lou. but seeing as how it’s still the summer, i decided to stick with the season and share the betina lou spring 2013 collection, which just so happens to be on sale this very moment. every look is so fresh and feminine with just the right preppy twist. a very classic and wearable collection in an array of cool cottons and nautical knits. and if you aren’t familiar with the label, betina lou is based in montreal with each piece being assembled by small, local manufacturers using natural and renewable fibers like cotton and wool. and don’t forget to shop the spring sale!

fruits & veggies by the loved one

last week, i very quietly packed up my belongings and said goodbye to the bay area. i will be sharing more posts about the move and everything else, but until i get settled, i thought it would be fitting to share this pretty editorial by the loved one. these sunny summer photos have got me in just the right mood for my move to los angeles. and now that i’m in the area, i’ll be able to visit their pasadena shop for the very first time. in fact, they’re having an event this friday night and i plan to make my first visit, so come on out and say hi!

jane sews spring 2013

one of my favorite things about the internet is being able to discover new brands and to connect with people all across the globe. which is exactly what happened yesterday when i received a little press release announcing the jane sews spring 2013 collection. i don’t think i had ever heard of them before, but one look at this fresh lookbook and i was hooked. they are a small label based in durban, south africa creating easy-to-wear vintage-inspired pieces using natural fabrics and timeless silhouettes. that pretty much sums up what i want my closet to look like, so of course, i am now lusting after many of these dresses and separates.

go explore by need supply co.

i discovered this little gem sitting in my inbox while i was away. go explore is a new limited edition collection by need supply co. created in collaboration with dusen dusen, collina strada, and black crane. the intention of the collection is to “capture the spirit of transition, the energy of life in flux, and the power of exploration.” and as i find myself in such a position these days, i think this collection would be the perfect uniform for my own travels and transitions. i’m especially in love with the dusen dusen pieces, and in particular the collared dress in ferns. get into my closet!

young frankk summer 2013

i don’t often write about jewelry, but that doesn’t mean i don’t have favorites! one of the first brands to really push me in the direction of wearing a few statement pieces was young frankk jewelry. a couple of years back, christine was kind enough to send me the v steps brass necklace, which quickly became a favorite, and is one of only a few pieces of jewelry i now wear on the regular. so of course i always keep an eye on her ever-expanding collection and find myself drooling over her incredible lookbooks. such was the case with her latest collab lensed by the talented photographer amber mahoney in dreamy coney island.
