pretty penny 7-year anniversary party!
just wanted to pop in and tell you about an awesome event happening this friday in oakland! you may remember a few months back, i hosted a pop-up shop at pretty penny vintage. well, it was such a success, that they’ve invited me back to offer up yet another selection of vintage and vintage-inspired wares as part of their big seven-year anniversary party!
in addition to my little calivintage pop-up, there will be a live performance by local band bam bam, a true photo booth, and tarot card readings, in addition to the usual snacks, boozy drinks, and other awesome freebies. so come celebrate with me and let’s all go out for drinks after! more details and rsvp here.

vintage festival fashion
there’s been plenty of talk about coachella and the season of summer music festivals lately. while i don’t have plans to attend anything besides our local outside lands fest in san francisco this august, i still enjoy searching through photo archives trying to get a glimpse at what those first festivals in the 1960’s must have been like. there were no street style photographers lurking about looking for fashionable ladies in cut off shorts and flower headbands, but there certainly was some pretty impeccable style worn by the popular musicians of the time. this is only a small selection and i know i’m leaving out a ton of people, but i thought i’d share some of the inspiration i collected while pulling together my first regular column for polyvore. each month, i’ll be finding a vintage photograph and recreating the look with modern pieces, so head on over to polyvore and check it out!

fab holiday shopping!
just a little reminder that if you’re still searching for holiday gifts this year, make sure you check out the selection at fab! i’ve partnered up with them this season, and have already gotten the bulk of my holiday shopping done. above are a few of my favorites, but they have tons more options in their holiday shop for everyone special in your life.

holiday shop
it may be black friday, but if you’re anything like me, then you’re probably avoiding the crazy crowds in favor of spending time with family and eating turkey sammiches instead of checking-off that massive gift list. i recently discovered fab after they featured one of my favorite jewelry designers, and i’ve since become addicted to browsing the site. this season, they’ve created a special holiday shop filled with gifts for everyone in your life. and after a bit of browsing, i’ve already picked a few favorite items that i may or may not want to keep all to myself…

behind the lens: gretchen jones at rand + statler
over the weekend, i was so excited to hear that gretchen jones was visiting san francisco for a trunk show at one of my favorite boutiques, rand + statler. i actually had the pleasure of meeting her a few seasons back during fashion week and was so struck by her sweet demeanor and enthusiastic attitude. it was especially fun because we had been following each other on tumblr for a while, so it was nice to get the chance to meet in person. so on saturday, i high-tailed it into the city to check out her event. i’m a huge sucker for anything silk and was particularly smitten with the bone and cream silk boxing glove dress. it’s one of those easy pieces that you can throw on with boots and a sweater for a chilly san francisco day. her pieces will be hanging out in the shop, so if you’re in the area, you should definitely stop by to check them out!
a calivintage pop up shop!
today i am so excited to finally be announcing my pop up shop at pretty penny boutique this friday in oakland! i’ve literally been planning to have this event for months, so i’m so happy that it’s finally come together. as some of you may know, my bedroom had been taken over by an entire rack and multiple bags filled with vintage treasures that i can no longer keep. my teeny tiny apartment can no longer support my vintage hoarding habit, so i’ve teamed up with my favorite local boutique to get this stuff out of my hands and on the racks for your shopping pleasure. in addition to my own personal vintage collection, pretty penny is already filled with tons of vintage wares for men and women, and my parter brendan will also be showing a collection of his artwork with affordable prints for sale. i’ve already explicitly asked him to paint silly cats and flowers for the event. and there may or may not be free tote bags featuring the art seen above, and of course there will also be free beverages to enjoy.
it’s going to be a wonderful time, so if you’re in the bay area, i really hope you can make the time to come out and enjoy drinks and good company with us this friday! you can r.s.v.p. here if you’d like, but it’s open to the public, so come one, come all!
feline fine
it’s been a while since i’ve done a girls + cats post, so i thought i’d repost this little piece i wrote on the modcloth blog last week featuring some of my favorite cat-inspired accessories! if you follow me in various outlets around the web, then you know it’s no secret that i’m pretty much a crazy cat lady. i recently decided to just go with it, and have been slowly collecting a little army of cat clothes and accoutrement.

an afternoon in grand lake
a couple of weeks ago, i took my camera with me on a typical afternoon in the grand lake neighborhood of oakland. it’s the place where i’ve lived for the past few years, and i love that i am within walking distance of so many special places. so when ugg australia asked me if i’d like to share a little glimpse into a day in my life, i happily obliged and snapped these photos for a guest post on their tumblr blog. i’ve partnered up with the brand for a series of guest posts throughout the year, and while it’s a tumblr-centric project, i just couldn’t help but share some of the photos from the post here on my main blog. just be sure to check out the ugg australia tumblr for my original post!
p.s. if you’re curious what i’m wearing: bonlook jungle chic glasses, j.crew dress, vintage shoes from pretty penny, fieldguided endless summer tote.
first stop: brunch at the grand tavern. the restaurant is in an old craftsman style house complete with a front and back patio, so you always feel right at home.
then a quick trip to walden pond books for some used book shopping.
and of course, we had to stop by morcom rose garden to lay in the sun and read books. as you know from previous posts, this is a favorite weekend haunt.
and we finished off the evening with a fancy cocktail from boot & shoe service! i got the ‘monk’s garden’ which was so herbal and fruity and refreshing!
calivintage + fossil san francisco city tour!
today i am very excited to share my latest collaboration with fossil.com! they contacted me a couple of months ago asking if i’d be interested in sharing a few of my favorite sf spots, so i happily made a day of it and took a quick trip to the mission district in san francisco to snap a few photos of my favorite shops. i sent over the pictures with some quotes and recommendations, and was absolutely blown away with the finished result! they created the most adorable animated interactive map of san francisco in the pretties shades of mustard and pink! it’s so cute that i want to print it out and hang it on my wall.
i’ve attached a couple of screen shots to share, but you’ll have to click here to play with the map and discover some of my favorite sf spots!
