so if you follow me on tumblr or twitter, you may have already seen this announcement. but i wanted to let you all know that if you’re going to be in new york for fashion week, then you should stop by poppy boutique during fashion’s night out for a chance to meet one of my favorite designers, lauren moffatt! and, as you can see by the image, i’m on the roster, too! i will be there enjoying beers, snacks, and shopping from 7 – 8pm, so i hope you can make it!
street style at outside lands, days two and three
and just as quickly as it came, outside lands has drawn to a close. these are some more of my favorite street style shots from saturday and sunday at the festival. it was so crowded on the weekend days, that getting a decent shot was actually pretty challenging, but i still spotted plenty of fashionable festival-goers. just like last time, you can see many more of the bohemian styles i shot for free people on their blog: day two and day three.
i can’t express how fun of an experience it really was to watch all of the people pass by with their own unique personal style and to be able to take photos to document that moment in time. this is actually getting me really excited for new york fashion week, where i hope to snap even more street style photos!
calivintage + free people at outside lands, day one
this weekend, the outside lands festival has taken over san francisco. i’m not a huge festival-goer, but when free people asked me if i’d like to go with them to shoot street style, i jumped at the opportunity. i love to shoot street style photos and it’s such a pleasure to observe the diverse array of styles that girls are wearing, whether on the street or at an event like this. on the first day, i definitely noticed the trends for this chilly summer festival: boots are a requirement, and if you’re smart, you’ll also opt for tights and a sweater or a pair of jeans!
these were some of my favorite looks, but i seriously took so many photos that i couldn’t share them all. you should definitely check out the free people blog for more of the photos that i took (including a shot of vanessa hudgens)! and expect more to come! there are still two days left of the festival!
lucky magazine!
today i am so happy to be sharing some exciting news: i’m a member of the new lucky magazine style collective! you may remember a couple of weeks ago, i tweeted about the news and linked to this new york times article, which outlines what we expect to be doing in the coming months. and just this past week, the september issue came out and i was lucky enough to be asked to contribute a little piece for their “from the blogs” section in the print magazine! i styled up this outfit as a preview of how i hope to be dressing this fall: in pale pastels and 1960s-inspired shapes. mostly influenced by the fall 2011 collections from philosophy, prada, and peter jensen.
anyway, i’m as happy as a clam right now and so pleased to be able to share this exciting news with you! so next time you’re waiting in line at the grocery store, pick up the september issue of lucky to catch a glimpse of me!

calivintage on grazia.it!
i just wanted to take a quick moment to thank the lovely folks over at grazia.it for including me in this wonderful gallery of fashion bloggers wearing denim! that outfit was one of my favorites this summer and i am so honored to have been featured alongside so many talented bloggers in such an awesome publication! thank you!
calivintage on the bust blog!
today i was delighted to discover that calivintage was chosen as blog of the week on the bust blog! bust magazine has been one of my favorite magazines for years, so this is quite an honor. just to know that the awesome people behind the publication even know about my blog makes me all giddy inside. thank you so much bust!
polyvore blogger awards!
today i am honored to announce that i have been nominated for “best personal style” blogger in the polyvore blogger awards! i am a huge fan of the site and often use it to answer style questions on tumblr and for occasional styling posts here on my blog, but especially for inspiration from the very talented members of the community. i always discover amazing new pieces browsing through the latest sets, and am constantly impressed by how creative they are! so in honor of the occasion, i decided to pull together a couple polyvore boards with my upcoming summer vacation in mind.
and here’s the fun part: polyvore is asking users to vote for the winners in each category by creating a set (or up to 20 sets!) inspired by your favorite nominees! (i’m also excited to see that my pal jessica of what i wore was nominated for “most covetable closet!”) once you cast your vote by creating your set, you will also be entered to win a channel timeless classic bag. no joke! you can read all of the directions right here! after you create your set, just be sure to go to the badge page, click on the badge to include it in your set, and include the url of your favorite blog in the description of your set, and you’ve placed your vote!
honestly, i am just honored to be included in such a talented group of bloggers, but obviously, i would love to have your vote, too!
momo cat
today you can find a little interview with me about my pretty cat friend, momo. claire of lola is beauty has an ongoing series featuring bloggers and their cats, and i was honored to have been asked to join the ranks in her series with some other lovely bloggers. i talk all about momo and her silly idiosyncrasies and there are plenty more photos up on her site, so go check it out!
calivintage + ismay ozga
today i am so thrilled to share this incredible illustration by ismay ozga. i actually discovered her work after she recently collaborated with the vamoose on a series of illustrations of their beautiful collection. through the magic of the internet, we started chatting and she asked if she could draw my picture. i calmly replied, “oh yes!” and “thank you!” but in my head i was jumping up and down like a little kid. and after seeing the finished work, you can see why i was so excited!
if you like what you see, there is plenty more! as one might expect after seeing such beautiful art, she had an equally lovely blog (two two oh four) with tons of inspirational images, and she even has a shop filled with original drawings and prints!
thank you so much, ismay!
what i’ve been up to lately
besides writing calivintage, i’m sure some of you know that i also have a few other little things i do around the internet. so today i thought i might share some of the projects i’ve taken on recently… most notably, i’m excited to have started a brand new blog: bikes + babes featuring (you guessed it) bikes and babes. it’s still a little baby at the moment, but i’ve been having fun filling up the queue with all of the pretty pictures i find and hope that it will provide good bike and outfit inspiration for these wonderful summer months ahead of us. you can also submit your own images to add to the feed!
over at modcloth (where i work as a blog writer), i also recently did a post about how to style a graphic t-shirt three different ways. i think this may have been my first little attempt at dressing someone up other than myself and i am excited to try it again soon!
and i was especially excited to have recently gotten in touch with miss moss to create these beautiful outfits inspired by some of her favorite fine art. this one is my favorite, but you should definitely click-through to see the rest!
and as always, you can find the rest of my work on the modcloth blog, the modcloth tumblr, and the calivintage tumblr, or you can keep up with me on twitter or facebook or both! ;)
