charles anastase sheer skirts!

excuse my terrible magazine scan from lula. my favorite magazine at the moment.

it’s true. i’ve already done a super-obsessed charles anastase post before… but it’s been months. er, at least one month… and in that time, i had forgotten about the collection for a moment.

but now i can’t get it out of my mind! ruffles, bows, sheer fabrics, romance, denim, boater hats, nerd glasses, super tall platform sandals with socks! it’s the way i would dress if i had the commitment to any one style! it’s the way i would dress if i had the money to buy the whole collection. er, i don’t even know where to get this stuff anyways. do they even sell charles anastase in the states?

anyhow, what i’m really thinking about most are the sheer skirts! oh, the sheer skirts! i would sew one right up out of a certain shade of dusty rose fabric i saw in the fabric store the other day, but i don’t think i’m skilled enough with the sewing machine to do something sheer. i wouldn’t be able to hide my mistakes!

i put together this little photo collage using photos from style.com

so instead, i’ll sit here and feast my eyes on the collection. and who knows, maybe i’ll find something vintage that’s incredible similar…

let’s dream, shall we?

chloe wearing chloe

i found these photos here.
i don’t think it’s any secret that i’ve been obsessed with chloe this season. i just love the simplicity, the colors, the scalloped edges, and oh! the sashes! that’s where it all began for me.and i know that people have already blogged about this, but i just can’t help myself. i have to post these pictures because i like chloe. oh, i’m talking about the designer here, not chloe sevigny. but you know what? i like her, too. especially when she’s wearing chloe.

and here’s the funny thing. i’m a big fan of reading the ever-popular gofugyourself blog. i read it everyday. it’s funny. and i typically agree with the authors of said blog. but i found both of these photos of chloe sevigny on their blog, being slammed for looking ridiculous. BUT i do not care. this only makes me laugh, because i still really really love chloe (the designer) and i quite like these outfits.

janeisha

i found this picture here.

here’s a little q& to learn more about diane!

oh hello there! can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m 23 years old and am studying to be a librarian. I was born and raised in California and really can’t see myself living anywhere else.

what was your inspiration for this particular outfit?

My inspiration for this outfit was initially very specific…it was based on an outfit post by Karla of Karla’s Closet. I am in constant awe of what Karla can pull off but this outfit seemed more tangible for my wardrobe than usual. I loved the idea of pairing a denim jacket with a girly skirt and a loose top. I reworked it to the pieces I had in my wardrobe and made the outfit look more like me in the end. That’s the beauty of being inspired by pieces on other bloggers. You can use it as a starting point and then re-structure the outfit to your specific taste.

holiday

so we celebrated memorial day yesterday in the good ol’ u.s. of a. as i’ve mentioned before, my little bro is visiting from southern california, so me and my beau decided to treat him to a little barbeque in tilden park! we made hamburgers seasoned with cumin and green onions and other delicious things and we packed up a cooler with pbr for our picnicing excursion. it was a lovely day, which was a very nice surpise after the freezing cold weekend! oh, schizophrenic bay area weather!
me in a vintage floral print jersey dress and vintage red bass loafers.

me and the beau, sweatin over the grill.
cheeseburgers. yum!

my little brother in his dr. pepper ringer shirt and vintage 501s.
my brother (devin) found a polaroid camera at an estate sale over the weekend, but it has a strange habit of spitting out the last 4 pictures of the reel. not cool considering that polaroid film runs about $1 per photo. sigh. but we got a few good shots with it, because my camera battery was dead! also, sigh.in other news, i want a kitty! devin convinced me to take him to the animal shelters in the area, and while i can’t possibly accomodate a dog (but oh! i want one), i can manage a kitten. i want a teeny tiny black cat. though i’m not sure what my landlord will think of that.

photo credits: all photos taken by devin, except the last one. i took that one.

hair cut!

relieved to have gotten a new haircut. i feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. har. then, when i got home and did my makeup, i realized that i was channeling “my life to live.” that is not a bad thing, though i’m not trying to say i look as effing awesome as anna karina. anyway, then i just had to change my photobooth picture to black and white. it was only appropriate. voila!

in other news: too much homework equals no time for ebay. i’m so good at math, see? so sorry for that. but for serious, i should put up a teaser because i have some pretttty amazing stuff waiting to go up for auction.

UPDATE: oh oh! and this is how it looks when it’s all messed up! i am very pleased that i found a new place to get my hairs cut. yayay!

yeah, it’s cheezy. i couldn’t help myself. i was twirling around and shaking my hairs because i am pleased.

spring inspiration

gah! i have suddenly discovered a new love. go to style.com and use their full screen viewer for a better look-see.

charles anastase s/s 09!

clicky clicky. i am going out today to buy a straw hat. for serious.

let’s talk about hair.

yah, this blog is soooooo deep. anyway.

i am going to make an appointment for a haircut. i’m over having this long hair because it just doesn’t work for me on so many levels. it’s been fun spending like 3 years letting my hair get long just to see what it would look like, but it’s time to get back to my roots. heh.

before i let my hair grow i’m pretty sure the timeline went something like this: i let my then-boyfriend buzz my hair with a clipper, then i bleached the shit out of it, then i let it grow into a messy mop. then i got drunk and let a friend cut a giant chunk out of the back, which eventually grew into something like a mullet. it was pretty fun. right after bleaching it out, i looked something like this:

i obviously thought i was a badass. and shit, now that i think of it, if i had my wits about me, i could’ve let it grow into the full gloriousness of something like this:

but alas, i did not…

anyways, i’ve got some new, more grown up interpretations for the direction of my new haircut.

i don’t intend to dye my hair this time, but this is the basic idea. i like the androgyny of it and i think it’s a tad more fashion forward and classy than my previous choice.

i figure it would be way too dramatic to just chop it all off, so i’m probably going to do this in 3 phases. cut some heavy bangs first, then cut a bob, then chop it all off.

so what do we think?
