i don’t think i mentioned it on my blog, but if you follow me on instagram, then you may have noticed that i went on a quick trip to san francisco a few weeks back. i packed up a few things and took off with my little family in tow so that we could squeeze in some touristy time between my days spent at the pinterest headquarters with an incredible group of influential pinterest users from around the country. and to be completely honest, i don’t even know how i ended up being selected to attend among so many talented people to choose from! but there i was, sitting in a room with evan sharp, one of the co-founders of pinterest, and chatting away with the legendary enid hwang.

to give you some background, earlier this year, the pinterest community team started work on their first ever pinterest ambassador program. this first group of individuals is serving as a sort of pilot to help them build an even larger community program over the next months and years. it’s essentially turned into a very rare opportunity for us to not only become more educated about the platform, but to be able to give our feedback directly to the team about what we’d like to see incorporated into the program. so we spent a lot of time digesting information and thinking up big ideas during the three days we were there. i came home with a ridiculous wealth of knowledge around how to utilize pinterest to grow your blog or business, and i’m pretty excited to start sharing some of that information with you here.

and as part of the summit, we hosted a #pinmeetup at the pinterest headquarters and had a chance to meet with tons of people from the community. each of us set up a different pinterest project at our own respective tables and welcomed guests to participate. i shared an easy demo on how to create your own sea salt bath soaks based around my own pin. it was a really fun evening, and these photos are the only evidence of the entire weekend, so i thought i’d share!

just in case you hadn’t noticed me blasting it on social media all week, i wanted to share one last reminder about the #pinmeetup event i’m hosting this saturday from 1-4pm at mixed business in silverlake! even if you aren’t on pinterest, you should definitely come out! i’m really excited to meet some new people, to shop the beautiful selection of vintage, and to enjoy a jewelry workshop with melissa sonico and a floral workshop with the bosky dell. there will also be refreshments provided by pangaea juice and ice cream sandwiches from a bay area favorite, it’s it!

i am so pleased to finally announce the first ever los angeles #pinmeetup! part of my role as a pinterest ambassador is to plan a series of events in the los angeles area to meet with the community. and for our very first event, we’ll be gathering at mixed business on august 8 from 1 – 4pm for sips and snacks and two awesome d.i.y. workshops, one on floral arranging with maggie carson romano of the boskydell and one on jewelry design with melissa sonico.

maggie carson romano has a professional background in fine art, fashion, and photography and is the found of the boskydell, an independent floral studio based in silverlake, ca. she will be teaching a workshop on creating beautiful, minimalist floral designs.

melissa sonico handcrafts beautiful necklaces using clay, leather, brass, and tassels. she’ll be giving a demonstration on designing clay beads, and will be providing supplies to make your very own necklace.

mixed business is a specialty retail shop in silverlake, california providing an effortless line of everyday basics. you’ll find a collection of their own in house designs, fine vintage clothing, and a selection of other contemporary brands with a focus on natural fibers with clean and simple construction.
