tradlands summer shirts

i know a lot of people are talking about “back to school” and “pre-fall,” but out here in southern california, we’re still in the thick of summer. in fact, i’m still stocking up on summer pieces like the new women’s shirting by one of my favorite brands, tradlands. this season, design duo sadie and jeremy released a collection of short sleeved shirts in soft cotton plaids and stripes, and the most perfect white linen. along with a selection of classic button-ups that will always have a perfect place in any wardrobe.

and i know i’ve talked about this brand before, but i can’t tell you how highly i recommend them! they are hands down the best menswear-inspired button-up shirts i have ever worn. they are specifically designed with a women’s body in mind, and as a rather busty gal myself, i can attest to the perfect fit, even if you usually find yourself popping buttons on all of your tops! not only that, but each shirt is constructed using quality materials right here in the united states.

tradlands fall 2014

as i’m sure you’ve noticed by now, i’m a pretty big fan of the san francisco-based women’s shirting company, tradlands. so of course, when i got a little sneak peek at the fall 2014 collection, i couldn’t wait to share it! the new collection of shirts just launched today, and i kinda wish i could own every single one. as always, the shirts were designed right in san francisco, pulling inspiration from menswear, but tailored specifically for a woman’s body. the fabric and construction is always top notch, the types of clothes that actually get better with wear. i’m particularly keen on the mid-weight cotton, san francisco made robie shirt, but i’m also pretty excited about their heavy cotton buffalo check arapahoe flannel sewn by union workers in fall river, massachusetts.

giveaway: enter to win $250 to tradlands!

calivintage_com_0143

today i’m very pleased to announce my latest giveaway courtesy of tradlands! i’m a huge fan of this menswear-inspired, women’s shirting company, so it’s a real honor for me to be able to offer this giveaway. the brand was conceived in 2012 after founder sadie roberts made it her mission to design a line of high-quality womenswear shirting to rival those worn by the boys. i’ve always really loved menswear, but finding the right fit for a decidedly feminine shape has always kept me from really being able to wear the tomboy styles that i love so much. but tradlands has really changed that for me. i can attest to their superior quality and impeccable fit. each shirt is handsewn in small batches right in san francisco, and each iteration is improved upon based on customer feedback and a dedication to great design. this latest shirt is a testament to their hard work. i’ve been playing around with styling it in different ways and it’s really allowed me to experiment with more boyish styles than i’ve been comfortable with in the past. i felt especially cool trying out this sporty summer look.

anyway, enough of my rambling on. these shirts are awesome, so i highly suggest you take a few moments to enter to win $250 to try out a few of these shirts for yourself!

tradlands fall 2013

since i shared a little discount with you yesterday, i thought i might as well show you the new tradlands fall 2013 lookbook. this sf-based shirting company was created by sadie roberts with the goal of creating well-constructed shirts using quality fabrics and tailoring them for a woman’s body. and i can attest to the fact that they really do fit! i also love that everything is done in san francisco, from the design to the manufacturing, so when you purchase one of these shirts, you are buying a truly american made piece that you’ll keep in your closet for years to come.

maternity style: tradlands

if you haven’t seen it yet, i recently published a quick interview on refinery29 with sadie roberts, the sf-based designer behind the new womenswear clothing line tradlands. and to celebrate the occasion, i styled up my very own jones st. buttondown. what i love so much about her collection is that each shirt is carefully constructed with quality materials, just like you would find in some of your favorite menswear shirting, but she has really taken the time to make sure that the cut is made for a woman. and as someone with a small ribcage and large bust, this is always a challenge since i’ll find a shirt that fits every part of my body, but it will still be gaping at the bust! but such is not the case with shirts from tradlands. now that i have one, i kind of wish i could just have a closet full to wear with jeans and cardigans for a very casual sf style. what’s more is that sadie is generously offering 15% off all orders for the next week!

continuing my search for solid basics to support my wardrobe, i recently came across tradlands, a new san francisco-based company dedicated to constructing well-made, hand-crafted shirting for women. the brand, founded by partners sadie beaudet and jeremy roberts, combines the fabrics and techniques applied to traditional menswear shirts but with a fit designed by and constructed for a woman. the shirts are classic and timeless, made with high-quality fabrics like raw denim, fine cotton plaid,  and slubbed chambray sourced here in the states, just like many of the shirts i’m always coveting in my boyfriend’s closet. reading a bit about the brand, i really enjoyed reading some of sadie’s philosophy around the brand:

“we are focused on women’s clothing. people often ask when and if we will make clothing for men. i see many companies making womenswear as a side note to their menswear line. the heart of our story is making great essentials for women.”

not only that, but the brand has a very strong connection to san francisco, where all of the garments are designed and constructed. each shirt in their first collection is named after a different sf locale. i’m already smitten with their first selection and can’t wait to see what other styles they roll out with this year.
