riding high

oh hello. just hangin out on the roof, dude. the weather took a turn for the cold and blustery this week, so i decided to pull out my trusty jeans and boots and cashmere and whatnot. when the weather turned all warm and springlike, i instantly forgot that winter ever existed and i imagined my entire life ahead of me, filled with bbqs every weekend, drinking ice cold mint juleps and fanning myself with some sort of fancy… fan. so yeah, i’m cold right now. trying to keep warm in this 55 degree weather. i’m from the desert, alright!

anyway, i felt concerned that i looked a little costumey in this outfit, so i asked my boyfriend what he thought. apparently this look made him thinking of flying? like in airplanes. what, do i look like a stewardess? i think not. that boy is downright silly if he can’t recognize that this is clearly a chic riding ensemble. duh!

wearing:
cashmere cardigan, j.crew
vintage blouse, ebay
high rise skinnies, indidenim
vintage nine west boots, thrifted

  1. I really really really love this outfit. I think I may like your looks with pants the best!

(Oh, and how appropriate is it that my word verification is "rides"??)

  2. so in love with your jeans! i am on a mad hunt for high waisted skinny jeans. i found a pair at uo and i really like them , but these are fabulous! i like that they don't have any fading and are all one color. very good look.

  3. this is adorable!
I can kinda see where your bf is coming from; if you were wearing one of those old-fashioned hat with goggles things, you'd be like amelia earhart at her chicest ;]

  4. It's so cool that you get to take your pics on top of a roof, Erin!
I love the outfit too, especially the little top underneath the sweater. xox

  5. Girl, I so hear you about the recent weather-tease! I get all excited about wearing sleeveless tops and open-toed shoes… to make matters worse I went down to LA this past weekend, which just made my weather-optimism even BRIGHTER! Then I come back to cold windy cloudiness… not fair :(

PS… Maybe b/f meant you look like an old school pilot? Like Amelia Eirheart!

  6. you look great! i love the equestrian influence. i can totally see it. i don't know WHAT your boyfriend's talking about. :)

  7. I agree with what others have been saying–it's costumey, but in a GOOD way! Like, the best way.

  8. I don't think its costumey at all! It has a sort of equestrian/school girl vibe to it! :)
Its funny, I'm a Cali girl too, but I go to school in New England–so 55 degrees over here is actually pretty warm! I suppose its the frame of reference…

  9. I don't think it's too costumey at all. I also love your pants–skin tight. I usually wear BDG cigarette from UO, but I'm thinking about something skinnier.

  10. Your outfit is super cute!

I'm in Atlanta and our weather is gorgeous…however we did have 55 degree weather last week. Seems like we have your temps now.

  11. Lovely! All the pieces look so great together. I agree about the "riding" look – which I love! Very classic and chic.

  12. I love this look on you! It is not to costumy really but this is coming from one who quite frequently will wear jodhpurs and riding boots just for the fun of it!

  13. very good look. very much a riding outfit and the jeans are my fave!

  14. Not so much flight attendent as one of those Vintage pilot style, however I agree it looks more horse riding chic. Love the outfit!
