hasbeen

i thought that referring to myself as a hasbeen was particularly apt today considering i just got my new swedish hasbeens in the mail and i totally decided to pair them with this old marc by marc jacobs coat that i bought waaaay back in 2001 when i was 18! (yeah yeah do the math on that one.) but like the tag on my shoes reads, sometimes you have to “move back to be able to move forward.” and i quite like that. but i guess you already knew that, considering that this blog has so much to do with vintage!

so while this marc coat isn’t quite vintage, it’s already 9 years old, which is about how much time it took me to like it again. and i kinda have to commend my 18-year-old self for that purchase, actually. i think that nowadays, i might find myself much too cautious to buy a huge orange military-style coat that looks like something straight out of sgt. peper’s lonely hearts club band. but at the time, i didn’t even flinch when i bought it. i was like, yeah, i’m 18! no rules. i’m spending all the money i saved over summer to buy marc jacobs. woo! or something like that. haha!

  1. Kudos to your 18-year-old self. That's a sweet coat. And the shoes too, but since they're hasbeens, that kind of goes without saying. :D

  2. I love this outfit and I love swedish hasbeens! I have to ask, do they run small or pretty true to size?! I'm thinking about getting either the mustard or white (since I saw that they are 30% off, so thanks for the link)! ^.^

  3. i have a coat similar to this and everytime i look at it makes me smile. i would wear it more, but im saving it for autumn! :)

  4. I love those jeans! I have been lusting over J brand jeans for a couple years now, but haven't been able to convince myself that my money is worth it.

How do you like them? Cause they look amazing on you!

  5. i actually am not much a fan of hasbeens, but those are by far the cutest ones i've seen yet! the mustard and peep-toe are just so cute.

  6. You look lovely hun! I want me some Hasbeens too! Thought they´d be less pricey in the land of their origin but no no… Adore these mustard ones.

  7. haha! blast from the past, i have the shorter camel version of that coat. Prob first designer-y thing i ever bought!
    Love the hasbeens

  8. You got the Hasbeens! Yay! And now we have the same color! Aren't the yellow peeptoes just so wonderful? Come Autumn, someone is probably going to need to pry them off my feet. And your 18 year old self was super duper fly, as is your current self! When I was 18, I wore this ridiculous sheer lace purple turtleneck top that I bought in Paris with booty shorts and had no idea that I looked a little crazy in the head, but now that I'm more cautious, I kind of feel tender toward my old, unafraid, unaware self! I hope you keep rocking the orange coat, and I can't wait to see your Hasbeens with some Hansel from Basel socks!!

Oh, and you remided me of that I should paint my nails in some bluish/greenish color. Need to be brave with colors, thanks for the inspiration :D
