off days

soooo… did you know that today is administrative professionals day? in honor of the occasion, i had big plans to wear an outfit in homage to the secretaries of days past. unfortunately, my mood and the weather conspired against me and i couldn’t exactly wrap my head around the idea of wearing a form fitting pencil skirt, or even going outside! in fact, as you can see in these photos, i was only bold enough to step out of the door frame for a brief moment before running back into the cave of my apartment building. some days are just better spent indoors, especially when you’re feeling a bit off and it’s stormy and gray outside. so i know this is a bit of stretch for secretaries days, but this is what i’m wearing. (i’ve since layered a big chunky sweater atop the whole thing, and i’m currently wrapped in a blanket.)

so while my pictures aren’t the most exciting, i decided to post them anyway because i thought you might appreciate my “off day.” we all have them, right?

dress: obey silky ruffle front dress from 80’s purple
tights: tabio clear ribbon tights
shoes: payless platform ankle boots
headband: forever 21 ribbon bow headband
glasses: 3.1 phillip lim spring 2009

  2. Haha my bosses surprised me with gifts today and caught me unawares- you look every part an administrative assistant (albeit a very chic one) Beautiful dress!

  3. I wore a blouse with a big bow that I thought was very secretary-esque today to the office to commemorate the occasion too!

Great outfit. I wear something similar to work with a blazer over it.

  4. I think your look turned out great, I totally get the secretary vibe.

I appreciate the off day post. I just started my blog and sometimes everyday feels like an off day, when trying to take your own photos. Haha.

  6. if this is considered an "off day" i think you're on the right track to becoming a style maven… i love the subtle ruffle details of this delicate dress. and it's slate grey color is such a great contrast to black…

  8. I know exactly how that is. This weather has been insane – I was ready to pull out my warmer weather clothes and now I'm stuck back in oversized sweaters. You look lovely as always though :)

I love that dress! It is so chic!

  14. these photos are really surreal. i like them a lot! and yay for secretaries all over the world.

  15. I actually think this dress is perfect for Administrative Professionals Day. While it's not a pencil skirt and button down shirt, it definitely has a bit of a 1970's secretary dress vibe with a more modern twist.
