remember when i told you that we found a secret alleyway by my house? ok, ok. it isn’t really that secret, but i have much more fun entertaining myself by imagining up millions of little secret passageways around my neighborhood. so yesterday we went back to snap a few more shots of the area. i’ve always had that silly sort of attitude when it comes to finding secret spots. i remember in high school, i used to go to a park with lots of bamboo. we would go ‘exploring’ and decided that there were probably monkeys living in one patch. and at another spot, there was a bit of a tunnel carved out of the leaves which we called the malkovich hole. you know, as in the secret portal in being john malkovich. by the way, how amazing is cameron diaz in that film?!
anyway, since i was in such an adventurous type of mood, i went for a bit of a vintage bombshell look in this thick knit pencil skirt. it’s still obviously pretty modest since that’s just my preference, but it’s always fun to dress a bit sexier on occasion, even when on silly excursions in my backyard.

Hanging out in alley ways – hmmm… All you need now though is a darker setting with a trench coat – and a witty remark in French with subtitles on the bottom :)

I also absolutely love Being John Malkovich.

I'll be honest with you in saying, I hardly remember Camaron Diaz in that film at all!! I thought Cusack did a great job though. It was very entertaining.
This outfit is great too!! I love the third shot best.
Weird, yesterday I wore a pencil skirt that exact same shade of mustard. Must've been the day for it.

And on the subject of secret alleys, they're the best! I always try to walk down weird little alleys when I come across them in San Francisco, though not at night, of course!
Looking so pretty! I remember the film too! Are you not hot in that knit skirt?
Love the color of that skirt! You look amazing. I tried to link your blog in my first outfit post since you inspired it but I'm technically challenged so it turned into more of a "shout out." lol

Beautiful outfit! ^^
Such a great outfit! Pencil skirts aren't great for adventures like climbing trees, but they are great for wandering around!
I love the stripes with the camel colour – great clutch too! You actually make me seriously consider cutting all of my hair off (even though i just spent 3 years growing it out…)

i love your style. that mustard pencil skirt with the striped top is so chic.
LOVE! I've been pulling out all my french sailor stripes this year, after having them out of the rotation for awhile. I'm so very happy for it.
We have the same hair do too. I did do some short choppy bangs last week. Still trying to decide how I feel about them.
this is gorgeous–i love the classic stripes with classic skirt. the proportions and colors together are stupendous.
you remind me of karen o in these pictures. thumbs up!

these pictures are great. i'm loving the head band, by the way!
Love love your skirt!!!!
ooh, beautiful! you look so french. :o)
Such a phenomenal outfit! I think that sexy is subjective, and I definitely relate more towards old school, saucy libraian than sexpot. This is lovely, I really like the skirt.
nice photography and love the colour of the skirt!
this high-waist skirt is wonderful! Love its color too!

I love what you said about being modest. THANK YOU. You look fabulous as usual. And yes, Cameron Diaz was great in that movie. I totally forgot about that.

So cute! I wore an orange business lady type skirt to work yesterday, it totally needs a striped shirt for a buddy. Also, you look like a silent film star in those pouty face pictures.
very French chic! cute ^.^
I love what you've done with the photo coloring in these pics. And this outfit is lovely!!
LOVE this outfit! :)

Looking great :-)
A work mate and I are always making up tall stories about the 3rd floor. The magical land you can only enter with the elevator key.. there's a swimming pool up there I tell you.
aw! when i was a kid there was a secret path behind all the houses that led all the way to my grandparents' house! It was through a woodsy area and it was very fun to walk through. But one day some people bought the house whose yard you had to take the shortcut through (which had been on the market forever) and we had to stop going through our secret way. :(
the colour scheme of these photos gives a kind of a mysterious feel to them. the 4th picture looks like a screenshot from a silent movie from the beginning of the 20th century. enthralling!
I really love this look. It's a little French-inspired! It's the belt that gives it a little extra class to make it such a great outfit. Plus, I love the color of the skirt.

such a cute outfit! something about navy blue and mustard just really works.
Camaron Diaz was absolutely amazing in that film. I wish she's do more weird Independent films like she did when she first started. She was great in Last Supper too.
you look wonderful! very 60's/mod-ish :) i've never seen being john malkovich, i'm probably missing out aren't i?!
