ways to wear it

on the heels of my first experiment at remixing a single item four different ways, i thought it would be the perfect time to share a little swap i did with jessica of what i wore back in january. we were both feeling a little bored with our wardrobes, so we decided to send each other some clothes to change things up a bit, sorta like a mini style challenge. the only problem is that i sent her clothes that were a bit more appropriate for summer in new york, while i was getting away with styling them in the temperate california winter!

but now that it’s sweltering hot in nyc, i get to see how jess styled up a pair of vintage levi’s cut offs and a cute vintage dress. and i love how you can see the transition from winter to summer (and west coast to east coast) in these photos! i also think it’s really fun to see how someone would style up pieces from my own wardrobe.

  1. Wonderful tips to take an own style, visit your blog today by the comment in the what i wore blog. I add you to my bloglovin :D

  2. Great outfits all round.

I did a swap with two other bloggers recently. It was weird and brilliantly seeing them remixing my clothes.

  3. wow! I love the two totally different ways you styled the cut-offs! I actually, wouldnt have thought of either one… Also, do you know what shoes Jessica is wearing in the top right photo? LOVE THEM. I think I need some tie espadrilles for summer, like those.

  4. Aww hehe I love the idea of blogger clothes swaps! We should actually all get together and do this ;)

P.S. – Are you wearing thigh highs and sheer hosery in that first photo? Where are they from?

  5. I have a question about cut-offs.

    How tight is too tight?

I had a pair of jeans which were a wee bit too tight in the thighs. They seemed like a good candidate for a cut-offs experiment, since I didn't want to ruin any jeans I actually like.

But the resulting cut-offs are a (semi-obviously) a little bit form fitting. They're comfy to wear, but I wonder if I look like a tramp or what? What are the ground rules on this? What's the best fit of jeans to make cut-offs with?

  6. I absolutely love the outfit you created with the cut-offs. The layering is great, especially with those tights and shoes. I would love to wear something like that everyday! And, I agree with alida . . . please keep the "ways to wear it" posts going! Fun!
