i should probably first point out that i’m not engaged, nor do i have any plans for a wedding of my own any time soon! but in celebration of the ruling that prop 8 (the ban on same-sex marriage in california) violated the constitution, i thought i would post some beautiful wedding dresses. though i should probably also mention that i don’t just browse around for wedding dresses on a regular basis… truth be told, i found out about these dresses because my sister recently got engaged, and she told me that she was looking for a 50’s style silhouette in a tea length with a boat-neck. well, she doesn’t know what she wants for sure, but i’ve been having a bit of fun looking for vintage and vintage-inspired dresses for her.
so this is the fancy new york spring 2010 collection. they also have a fall collection out, but i much prefer these spring styles. they are so perfectly vintage-inspired, and the best part is that most of the dresses come in sizes 2 to 20. wedding dresses for the masses! and literally, since a whole portion of the population will no longer be banned from getting married. ok, i know there’s going to be a big fight before it’s all over, but here’s to hoping!

Ooh ooh ooh! I would get married just to wear one of these. I love the one with the pussy bow and the one with the buttons down the front the best.
Gorgeous dresses! Love the last two.:)sarahD
Gorgeous. I have my custom vintage inspired wedding dress all picked out…all I need is a spouse.
YES on the prop 8 ban!
and YES YES YES on these dreses! i'm also not lined up to get married any time soon, but i do plan on wearing a vintage, tea length dress when it happens!
I thought you might post something about this… it's so exciting, and should have happened so much sooner. I do agree, though, that many will probably put up a fight with this, but hopefully it will last! Now if only AZ can figure it's stuff out. : / Here's hoping!
Beautiful dresses, though. I've always liked the idea of a shorter wedding dress… especially being short myself. It's so flattering and fresh looking.
Congratulations to your sister and her planning. These dresses are indeed quite beautiful. I like them all. I want to get remarried haha. . .or hope to be in someone's wedding one day (since my own was the only one I was in so far). and if the day comes that you do choose to marry, what a gorgeous wedding I'd imagine you'd have with some really great dress. . .but of course that would be a silly reason to want to marry (and I actually knew someone who wanted to marry just for the big party. . odd)
:O I love these dresses! I would definitely wear one of these (if I would get married!) :]
I really adore the one with the bow :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this post! I am so excited that our courts have decided that the ban violates the constitution. It gives us a little more hope. Lots to celebrate! These are some beautiful dresses for some beautiful ladies. Hope we all see some fabulous weddings in the near future.

Just like in the movie Funny Face. :) I've been planning (my second, haha) wedding for years and my plans always include an adorable vintage dress like these.

so happy as well!

I must keep this dresses in mind if I ever get married. I hate strapless dresses, so nearly every wedding dress is out. ps. I really love California today.
The only reason I would ever consider getting married is to wear a pretty dress like this.
I heard the news and I actually went out with my friends to celebrate in SF. It was amazing!
i just heard about the prop 8 overturn! i hope it sticks! = <3 =
pretty dressess! i definitely want tea or knee length for my wedding attire… maybe even a retro skirt suit.
I just saw these in a wedding magazine minutes ago, so beautiful! I love the one with the big bow in the front. So happy to hear about Prop 8 being turned over!
I also have no plans of getting married anytime soon, but this website has the most amazing dresses….

if your sister leaves here or wants to come to the bay area i got my 60's hippie dress here http://www.recapturedesigns.com/ and the women who owns the store has hundreds of dresses from different eras and it is really fun because if the dress doesn't fit she works with you on ways to make it fit! i got my dress here and i was too wide up top and we made it an open back and gave it a bustle SO MUCH FUN!!

I wore a Fancy dress for my wedding in May and it was AMAZING. I had the best experience working with them and my dress was absolutely perfect. It was hard picking just one tho!
