right now, i’ve shifted my focus towards transitional outfits as the summer winds down and fall starts creeping up. one of my favorite transitional pieces is a simple floral dress because it can be worn alone with a pair of simple sandals when the weather is hot, but it can easily be layered with key fall pieces when the weather starts to cool down.
above is a look i styled with my favorite transitional trends in mind: mango floral pleat front dress, goorin brothers bella traditional hat, j.crew infinity cardigan, fossil wagner backpack, goodhew milan wool socks, madewell suede desert booties.

I always forget to enter but I'm goin' for it this time! I did a breton stripe search: http://www.beso.com/breton-stripe/search
still can't get enough! Sailor stripes are just so good for summer days & nights, especially cause of those Saint James style sweaters!
I really like the army trend so I would choose these items:

it has to be the maxi skirt! :D

gotta love the length and ease of wearing this in the summer. when you don't want to show skin, but still want to feel comfy, light and fresh, maxi skirts are the way to go. im sure pairing them with some socks and sandals in the fall will be a great way of transitioning from one season to the next! :D

Cardigans! They're perfect for transitional weather. Take them off when it gets warm, throw them on when you get a chill. I keep mine in neutral colors so I can wear them with everything.

i love the sheer white blouse because it's a cute item for summer with sleeves rolled up, a black bralette underneath, and paired with shorts, but can easily be switched up for fall with a tank bodysuit and a cute blazer, cardi, or coat, with a skirt/longer shorts and tights.

i LOVE any plain dress that can be made into many different outfits with fab accessorizing, so i chose:

I too love cardigans–especially cropped ones. They can keep you warm on those chilly Bay Area nights, and tend to look less frumpy than regular old cardigans. I especially like how cropped cardigans accentuate your curves by cutting off at your waist line. Lovely!

i might be out on a limb here, but i say long skirts. in the summer, they make a nice 70s-style look with a big floppy hat and some wedge sandals. in fall, you could really go all out bohemian with lots of layers of jewelry, scarves, thick tights, boots, etc etc etc. i haven't worn a long skirt in a long time (ha!) but this year I'm feeling it.

Oxfords are timeless shoes that can be worn year round. They add a romantic yet masculine flair to any dress during the summer and go great with a lacy skirt and tights in the fall!!!
My favorite transitional item is definitely the button down shirt.
http://www.beso.com/button-down-shirt/search
In the summer, they can be light and sheer, perfect for a casual day on the beach. In fall and winter I like to layer them with heavier sweaters in deep colors.

Studded clogs! http://www.beso.com/studded-clogs/search
Even though my search is so specific, there are still a number of individual versions of the studded clog! You can go from the laid-back Lucky clog to Swedish style maven in Troentorp's clogs to trashy delicious in Jessica Simpson or Jeffrey Campbell!
And not only are they a great outfit-maker all on their own (with a summer dress or a simple pair of boyfriend jeans & a loose tee), but you can bundle your little feet up with thick socks and load on the layers for fall & winter!
LOVE 'EM.
Totally in need of some lace up boots to rock with some dresses and when it gets cool enough with some tights!

I love cowboy boots… perfect if you spend time in the late summers in the desert or mountains and need protection from pesky sand and stones but still wanna look cute in your sundress… also, they're kind of a must if you ride a motorcycle in the summer breeze. I have to say, I've been pining away for engineer-style ankle boots for a couple of years now. Black leather with a little buckle… perfect. I see them pop up every season, too: slogging through rain or snow, in the spring with a short grungy floral dress, summer with denim shorts, fall with skinny jeans and a chunky sweater. Plus, they get better as they age! They look great beat up.

My quintessential summer to fall transition piece is the classic white oxford button down. With the sleeves rolled up, half buttoned with a bathing suit underneath and some denim cut offs, you can take this preppy look straight to the beach. Once the weather cools down, an A line skirt, suspenders, cardigan, and tights pair perfectly with it, playing right into the menswear trend. White oxfords are definitely staples of a classic wardrobe.

I love these grey booties because I can see myself wearing them all year long. I'm also really loving wood heels, so spanish!

I'm rocking tunics all the time…love how they work as dresses when it's super humid out, but can also be paired with skinny jeans or leggings when it's a bit cooler.

I happen to have been eyeing this gorgeous for awhile: http://www.beso.com/fossil-handbag-sasha-crossbody-bag/2040892838/detail
I think it's a perfect transitional item, because it's a little bold for summer yet perfect for automn days.
I am personaly in love with this trench:

timeless. trensitional. chic.
I think a motorcycle jacket is a great transitional piece–with a femanine floral dress or with distressed slimfit jeans and white tee.

My husband hates sandals, but the extra height and trendiness of wedges are just the thing for a happy medium.
I had to pick peter pan blouses, because they're adorable in the summer heat with a pair of tailored shorts and some sandals, or in cooler weather, with a cute little cardigan, some skinny jeans, and oxfords.

(i need these: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=18707299 in yellow!)
and 3/4 sleeved cardigans: http://www.beso.com/cardigan/search
with these two things, most all of my dresses/skirts will last well into winter. :)

Crop shorts are the best clothing item inbetween seasons. They can keep you cool in the summer and they have a little extra length when it starts to get colder. They're perfect for hanging around on fun summer nights or fall walks or going to a big summmer music festival. Love 'em!
