right now, i’ve shifted my focus towards transitional outfits as the summer winds down and fall starts creeping up. one of my favorite transitional pieces is a simple floral dress because it can be worn alone with a pair of simple sandals when the weather is hot, but it can easily be layered with key fall pieces when the weather starts to cool down.

above is a look i styled with my favorite transitional trends in mind: mango floral pleat front dress, goorin brothers bella traditional hat, j.crew infinity cardigan, fossil wagner backpack, goodhew milan wool socks, madewell suede desert booties.

  1. it has to be the maxi skirt! :D
    http://www.beso.com/maxi-skirt/search

gotta love the length and ease of wearing this in the summer. when you don't want to show skin, but still want to feel comfy, light and fresh, maxi skirts are the way to go. im sure pairing them with some socks and sandals in the fall will be a great way of transitioning from one season to the next! :D

  2. I really like jumper style dresses like this: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3107445?cm_cat=datafeed&cm_pla=dresses:women:dress&cm_ite=nanette_lepore_%27villainess%27_jumper:308142&cm_ven=bizrate&mr:referralID=ca7f53b7-9f2c-11df-bb45-001b2166bec9

Jumpers can be worn sleeveless when it is hot out, or with a tee shirt or blouse underneath for layering when it gets cold. The whole search is here: http://www.beso.com/womens/jumper-dress

I love love love scarves and have an entire wall of them for summer, fall and winter! They're perfect to throw over jackets for a little extra warmth in the fall and spring and great for belting or adding a turban in the summer!

  4. I think rompers are my favorite laid back-but-fun-and-fashionable summer item, but I'd like to try styling some rompers with sweaters, tights, and booties during fall!
    http://www.beso.com/rompers/search

and I'd go with this neutral one, which would look cute with simple summer sandals or fall layers:

  5. Oops. I missed the "transitional piece" part. Haha.

My biggest transitional pieces always tend to be leggings.
    http://www.beso.com/leggings/search

For some reason they keep you pretty cool when it's warm out and they keep you warm when it's getting cool out. :) And you can layer as much as you'd like. Love em!

  6. My search was for leather purses (http://www.beso.com/leather-purse/search) because I think that a supple leather bag can really make an outfit look classy and sophisticated. I especially love a nice chestnut-brown one for the summer-to-fall transition because it goes with everything!

  7. For transitional pieces I tend to migrate towards cardigans, light tank tops and tees. Spring, fall, winter and even summer I usually have something I can wear alone, layered or pieced together depending on how I'm feeling.

I'm loving these items for their casual, comfortable yet still stylish looks-

  8. Hi!
The Summer of 2010 contains such strange weather from the chilly west coast to hotter than hot scorcher days in the midwest and east…and let's not forget to include the buckets of rain!
This is why I've chosen the trenchcoat. Not only does it come in handy for a rainy and cooler temps, but it is all over the Fall 2010 fashion ramps!

    Thank you calivintage and beso!

  9. i've always thought plaid was very fall-appropriate. it always gives me a back-to-school feeling, makes me want to buy new pencils and crunch on crisp leaves. i searched for plaid minidress, because you could wear the short skirt in indian summer and then cover up with tights when it gets cold!

    http://www.beso.com/plaid-minidress/search

  10. Studded clogs! http://www.beso.com/studded-clogs/search

Even though my search is so specific, there are still a number of individual versions of the studded clog! You can go from the laid-back Lucky clog to Swedish style maven in Troentorp's clogs to trashy delicious in Jessica Simpson or Jeffrey Campbell!

And not only are they a great outfit-maker all on their own (with a summer dress or a simple pair of boyfriend jeans & a loose tee), but you can bundle your little feet up with thick socks and load on the layers for fall & winter!

    LOVE 'EM.

  11. I love cowboy boots… perfect if you spend time in the late summers in the desert or mountains and need protection from pesky sand and stones but still wanna look cute in your sundress… also, they're kind of a must if you ride a motorcycle in the summer breeze. Then they're just perfect going into fall with some nice, chunky knit tights and a military parka.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  12. I have to say, I've been pining away for engineer-style ankle boots for a couple of years now. Black leather with a little buckle… perfect. I see them pop up every season, too: slogging through rain or snow, in the spring with a short grungy floral dress, summer with denim shorts, fall with skinny jeans and a chunky sweater. Plus, they get better as they age! They look great beat up.

  13. I have been on the lookout for the perfect navy blazer to wear over sundresses and with tees and shorts as the weather cools. There are some great options out there.
    http://www.beso.com/womens-apparel/navy-blazer
I especially like the classic crested ones and the nautical one listed from Modcloth.
My email is on my profile.

  14. For me the best transitional item is thin denim jeans. You can wrap them up if it is warm and wear regularly, when the weather gets a bit chilly.

My favourite summer trend is clogs or interpretations of clogs. You can wear them barefoot or with socks!

    or these

And I just love funky prints, so I would go for a light blouse

And of course, my love for clutch bags and more colour!

    http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod105010034&ecid=NMCIBizrateFeed&srccode=cii_10043468&cpncode=22-74606468-2

Since where I live, the place is not tortured by heat for like a month already..the stuff turned out a bit autumny :) Hope that's ok :)

  15. I realized, that I've put the links wrong :) Sorry.

So, my transitional items for Autumn with beso.com URL :)

I would go for clog sandals, as you can wear them with or without socks so, totally versatile for mild transition :)

    http://www.beso.com/clog-sandals/search

They would look great with some light denim skinny jeans

    http://www.beso.com/thin-denim-skinny-jeans/search

    and with patterned chiffon top

    http://www.beso.com/pattern-chiffon-top/search

and of course a colourful clutch :)

    http://www.beso.com/clutch/search

  16. My favourite items of all time is Converse. I pretty much am NOT a shoe person but for some reason they make me nuts <3 I love them much and wear them pretty much everyday. Especially the pair of silver sequined Chucks I have :D

    http://www.beso.com/chuck-taylors/search

The perfect outfit? White T-shirt and shorts, SpagettiStrap Navy stripped Cardigan wrap, and Sparkly Silver Chucks :]

    – Madeline. lovepainedsmile(at)gmail(dot)com

  17. My favorite summer/winter-fall favorite is tunic. http://www.beso.com/tunic/search

Tunic is nice and breezy for summer, but it is also versatile for fall-winter as a part of layering tops. They looks good with cardigan, motorcycle jacket or hoodies.

    christra at gmail dot com

  18. My transitional item: wedge sandals (http://www.beso.com/wedge-sandals/search), like these gorgeous Sam Edelman's zebra-printed wedges (http://www.beso.com/sam-edelman-katrice-wedge-sandal/1842240001/detail)

All I need to do is add a pair of opaque tights (any color) or socks (any length). I can always take the tights/socks when the temperature gets warmer ;) I can wear this combination with a dress, a skirt, shorts, even with a pair of cuffed jeans/pants! Very versatile :)

Thanks so much for this opportunity!:)

  19. My quintessential summer to fall transition piece is the classic white oxford button down. With the sleeves rolled up, half buttoned with a bathing suit underneath and some denim cut offs, you can take this preppy look straight to the beach. Once the weather cools down, an A line skirt, suspenders, cardigan, and tights pair perfectly with it, playing right into the menswear trend. White oxfords are definitely staples of a classic wardrobe.

  20. I love the long sleeve floral dress. It takes a summery pattern and makes it more appropriate for the winter months. I pair it with black pantyhose, a black cardigan, and black, lace-up ankle boots. The black accessories allow the floral pattern to pop and keep me warm!

    http://www.beso.com/casual-work-dresses/floral-long-sleeve-dress

This one is my personal favorite:
    http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod116380001&ecid=NMCIBizrateFeed&srccode=cii_10043468&cpncode=18-64914220-2

    jordanmyr1ck@gmail.com

  21. I have a really soft spot for oxfords.
They look great in any kind of weather, I think.
(well except for the really snowy and slippery winter of course! but we're not talking about the winter here)
And they go well with pretty much everything- from shorts and a simple shirt in the laid back summer and flowery dresses and tights in fall.

    jingle_bellie(at)hotmail(dot)com

  22. I think a motorcycle jacket is a great transitional piece–with a femanine floral dress or with distressed slimfit jeans and white tee.

  23. I had to pick peter pan blouses, because they're adorable in the summer heat with a pair of tailored shorts and some sandals, or in cooler weather, with a cute little cardigan, some skinny jeans, and oxfords.
