rise and shine

one benefit of our recent time change is that the sun comes up nice and early to wake me up and get me ready for the day.  i don’t like the fact that it gets dark at 5pm, but the sunny mornings are something i really don’t mind since i’m now waking up around 7am most days.  on this particular morning, i was able to snag my boyfriend on a day off from work, so we decided to snap some photos in the sunrise.  we had so much fun playing with the sunlight, that we got a little carried away and took more photos than usual! which is actually a really nice way to start off the morning, especially when followed by a drive in the car blasting joni mitchell and singing along at the top of my lungs.

but onto my outfit: i just recently ordered this beautiful chiffon swiss dot dress from modcloth, and i think i’m in love.  the moment i pulled it out of the package, i knew is was going to be perfect.  it fits like a glove and i love the way the full skirt swishes around me when i move.  it really looks and feels just like a vintage dress, and most importantly, i just like the way it makes me feel.  don’t you love it when that happens?

sweater: thrifted benetton sweater
dress: moon collection swiss dot dress from modcloth
belt: skinny leather belt from urban outfitters
shoes: seychelles platform clogs
clutch: vintage eel-skin clutch from jessica of what i wore

  1. Simply gorgeous, the sunshines not bad either! My mom has the same bag in her collection, I am so snagging it from her. Perfect pairing!

  2. i love the addition to sunshine and natural light in photos. in just adds something.

you look amazing as always – the dress is beautiful!

i'm not really liking the dark evenings; it doesn't give me much time to take my photos after school. and i can't exactly take them in the morning… (school starts at 7:20) i could try though.

  3. Great volume on the skirt of the dress!!!!!!!! Love it! And that is definitely one of my favorite colors to wear.

  4. I love it when something just feels right. It makes you feel pretty no matter what your hair/face etc is doing.
    Loving the sunrise pictures!
    Really fun :)

  5. Ohhh man I love singing along to Joni Mitchell alone in the car. It's one of life's finer pleasures. Blue is my all-time favorite. It captures so many moods and always seems to say just the right thing on a rough day.

  6. Such a beautiful dress! And the little belt just finishes off the outfit so well :)

I love modcloth, but I've had to stop torturing myself – it's too hard to buy online when you're not one size anywhere. Not to mention shipping :P

  7. aw these pictures hardly do your skirt justice! it was so incredibly cute in person and i kept starring at it and i had assumed you got it while thrifting!! high five modcloth!

  9. I'm loving the time change, as well. I'm not a morning person by practice, but have been trying to change this and the early morning sun definitely helps.

The way we feel in our clothes is the most important part of dressing! Even the simplest of pieces can bring on much confidence – and it shows here with you in these beautiful pictures!
