fruit stripe

calivintage: fruit stripe

ok, that title might be a tad bit misleading since the stripes on my dress are actually composed of rows of teeny tiny flowers, but fruit stripe just sounds better. possibly because it’s also the name of one of my favorite childhood candies. but anyway, this is the lovely boutique by jaeger dress that i bought with my sister’s upcoming outdoor wedding in mind. i was trying to keep it in the closet until the main event, but it just kept calling to me with it’s bright and playful color palette.

i thought it would be the perfect thing to wear for another sunny spring day, but don’t let the sunshine fool you. the weather in san francisco was actually a bit cold and windy today. i had an optometrist appointment this afternoon, which was about a 30 minute walk from my work. needless to say, a few passersby probably got a grand view when the wind blew up my skirt. luckily (or not), i happened to be wearing my snazzy loved one undies, so at least it made for an interesting peek!

dress: boutique by jaeger rainbow print sleeveless dress
bag: j.w. hulme mini legacy bag
shoes: worishofer sandals from modcloth
sunglasses: karen walker
lipstick: ysl rouge pur in le orange

  4. Lovely dress, great colors on you! It really has been windy and cold in SF… and apparently rain tomorrow *sigh* at least we had like a week of nice spring dress weather.

Oh, and I take it you’re referring to the fruit stripe gum (with the zebra??) I LOVE that gum. I still buy it every now and then!

  5. Your hair is really coming into the bob Erin! Love it! The dress is so perfect for Spring and Summer! It’d be so fun to remix as a skirt or a top too!

  6. oh i love that dress! it has all my favorite colors in it :) it seems like it’s been windy everywhere lately! i am pretty much done with it. i have to walk a lot around here and am unable to keep my clothes and hair where they are supposed to be!

  7. awr yeah that dress is killer! total summer staple. and jeez your haircut is cute. i am debating whether to go short or keep going rly rly long…

  8. I can’t get over how perfect this look is for spring. I wish it was warm enough outside where I am to go bare legged and sleeveless. I’m not complaining though – as long as the snow stays away until December!

  9. this outfit is absolutely awesome! I really love how the stripes are made from itty-bitty flowers, it’s such a neat detail! Plus, your accessories are too cool! I love how the bag and glasses bring out the rich brown-ish color in the dress!

  10. But unlike Fruit Stripes gum, this outfit will not becoming disappointing in ten minutes.

I want lots more pictures of you grinning. They’re my favorite. I miss your pretty face.

    1. haha, for reals. my mom would get so mad at me coz i would beg her to buy it for me, and then i would chew the whole pack in one sitting. but don’t forget the most important part: temporary tattoos!

      p.s. i love you.

  11. JKHSAKJHSKJH! Sorry, these colors are perfect! That dress is springy/ice cream eating/frolicking/general merriment outfit. The shape would lend itself well layering in the colder months too. Heart!

  12. i had a dress in the air moment aswell today but its still chilly here in Wales so my modesty was shielded by 40 denier! I am completly obsessed with the colours in your dress and the chevon stripes at the top, love it

  13. This dress is gorgeous and will be perfect for your sister’s wedding. I love when folks go bold for weddings. Your shoes look so great with the dress lady. I love the color scheme, certainly has a vintage feel to it.

  14. you are so lovely, Erin! I love that photo of you smiling :) and I like how you had a piece that was calling your name and you just couldn’t wait to wear! I’m like that too…my mom always wanted me to save my back to school clothes or clothes for a vacation but I would say, “Why wait? Its new and shiny and I want to wear it nooowww!” Boy, I sound like Veruca Salt…

  15. what a unique print on this. makes me think of the shirts I used to have in the early 80s, remember how those shirts are a bit similar?? I’m unfamiliar though with the candy you speak of. Perhaps they weren’t over here in NJ.
