a house mouse

you may not know this, but i may have a slight affinity for crafty little projects. i feel like it sort of goes hand-in-hand with the lifestyle of a girl who would prefer to spend her weekends in thrift shops. looking at all of the bags of lace and buttons and odds-and-ends, i begin to imagine the possibilities for handmade items and start to collect bits of fabric and things in hopes of creating some sort of diy masterpiece. unfortunately, the reality is that i just have drawers and bags stuffed full of partially finished projects taunting and teasing me as i continue to set them aside for more tech savvy endeavors.

but i recently managed to throw together a very simple cat toy diy for the modcloth blog, where we are celebrating mewsweek, much to my delight! i had so much fun trying to snap photos of this little mousy with my cat momo, that i thought it would be fun to share the finished product with you! if you’re curious for the directions ,which were expertly illustrated by our graphic designer, mini, you can hop on over to modcloth!

    1. thank you! i definitely have a few bigger projects in mind, but i just haven’t planned them out yet. i bought some hawaiian print fabrics on my summer trip there and want to make a couple of pieces to wear!

      1. you should definitely get crafty and cut up that hawaiian print fabric! i have fabric left over from the vintage dresses i cut up each day, so i think i might make something pretty from it!

        adorable kitty!

  1. i do love to go thrifting any chance i get, but i am not a crafty person at all. i used to try to make myself want to do crafty things because, as you said, the two just seem to go hand in hand, but it’s seriously not for me. i do approve of this cute, little mouse though. :)

  2. What a great way to use fabric scraps! I think projects like these are the most fun to do, because they’re easy, quick, and you can make lots of them in different color and pattern combinations. Recently I’ve been using some leftover fabric to make cute stuffed animals for my friends’ new baby.

  3. aw I saw this at work a few days ago! such a cute idea. mayhaps I should start making these for my future kitten friend (January if all goes according to plan!) :)
