calivintage on sweden’s next top model!

another project that i’ve been waiting to share for months on end is my guest appearance on sweden’s next top model! this was filmed last winter at a vintage shop in los angeles and aired this past season on tv3 in sweden. i knew that it had aired, but hadn’t seen the episode until a few days ago when my sleuthing aunt and sister tracked it down on youtube. i have to admit, i was really worried about how it would come out because i was deathly sick with a very bad cold on the day this was filmed, and could barely form a complete sentence after all the medicine i took, but i think it came out pretty cute all said and done.

since the video is a bit long and it’s mostly in swedish, you can fast-forward to my segment at about the 3:15 mark. they were kind enough to speak english for my part, but i have no idea what is being said in the rest of it. maybe one of my kind swedish readers can offer up a translation!?

a huge thank you to the people at acne production for making this possible, and here’s to more fun video adventures!

    1. dude, poncho guy was hilarious. and let me also note that he is wearing teeny tiny short shorts underneath that poncho… when i showed up to the set and saw him, i started looking around for candid camera!

  1. This is great and so exciting!
You look great for someone who was really sick~ and I love your spot-on inputs! Great job~!

btw, thanks for always re-posting my blog entries! I really appreciate it :)

  2. I have to say, I find that the looks they put together were a bit disappointing, especially in contrast to your amazing outfit. Was it a criteria for them to dress mid-80s/early 90s exclusively?
This is a tad off-topic, but I thought subtitles might be available under ‘CC’… What I got was a literal sound translation into English, bringing the show to a whole new hilarious level!

    1. haha, yes, i was definitely… surprised by their outfit choices. they weren’t prompted to do anything specifically, the only hint was to remember to accessorize. i guess that’s how the kids dress in sweden these days? they did ask me to say something nice about everyone, though! i don’t know if you catch it, but there are a couple of times you see me making very pensive faces as i tried to think of what to say haha.

i also tried the cc feature and got a good chuckle out of it. so funny!

      1. Haha, I did notice your “QUICK, think of something nice” faces and I could only imagine how horribly awkward and *not* fast I’d be in thinking up good feedback for outfits like these. But they seemed to have a lot of fun and that alone was…cute. :) Your dress, by the way, was beautiful and you looked like an all around sweetheart.

  3. i’m not swedish, i’m finnish but swedish is my second language. so here’s what the girls are saying after you have told them who the winner is. the winner girl says that she’s super happy and it’s like the best reward one can have, she just says i’m so happy like a million times. and then the winner’s pair says that it feels unfair that her pair won because she helped her so much with the styling and this klara won because of her help.

  4. You were great – so positive and a natural on camera. Those outfits were insane, which is weird because all the Swedes I’ve ever met or known have a great sense of style and always look awesome. You looked amazing though, do you have anything else lined up like this? You need your own show!

  5. Lol that was such a funny and cute segment. I laughed at the outfits and the mis-matched shoes hahaha so funny. you’re such a natural for TV!
