lip balm

i have a confession to make: i’m addicted to lip balm. it started as a healthy habit, tossing a little tube of chapstick into my purse to keep my lips moisturized throughout the day. inevitably, i’d misplace that little jar or tube and pick up another one while checking out at the grocery store. then i started finding myself interested in trying something new. gone are the days of being happy with my coveted dr. pepper lip smackers circa 1990, now i find myself lusting after the fancy packaging and pretty tinted hues of luxury lip balms. needless to say, i have now discovered that as i dig through my totes and handbags, or reach into the abyss of my sofa cushions, there always seems to be a pretty little lip balm waiting for me to try.

above are a few of my current favorites, neatly organized on my dresser tray. not pictured: probably 10 other tubes of partially used, melted, or disfigured specimens found at the bottom of beach bags or in the dryer after the clothes have been washed and dried, and a greasy mess has been deposited all over my whites…

have any favorites to add to the list?

  1. I have about half of these. That smith’s lip balm is my favorite, the only thing keeping me from buying it is knowing I already have 45 other lip balms to “use up first”. Hah!

  2. Hiiii. Be careful with ingredients, most of the lip balms have Petrolatum! Very dangerous!
    Love your blog btw! Kissssss

  3. I’m crazy about lip balm, and I can’t believe I didn’t know there was a Dr. P. one – we don’t have that here. The usuals are Nivea & LaBello, and homemade stuff is pretty popular.

  4. Oh man, I am soo bad about buying like 6 different chapsticks or lip balm and then losing them. I try so many new and exciting ones but I always fall back on classic Carmex for when my lips really need hydration.

  5. maybeline baby lips in cherry me! It smells like fake-ass cherries (which I love) but it is actually very moisturizing and leaves a pretty sheer red tint.

  6. My current favorite is Fresh sugar rose. A friend just described it as the grown up version of Dr. P lip smackers. Crazy Rumors has some fun flavors & is all natural & vegan (terrible name though!).

  7. I love burts bees lip balms most of all – and the honey one is quite nice.
But most of all I love the lip shimmers, especially ‘watermelon’, which has the perfect amount of shimmer (which I usually hate) and is the best pink. I’m a terrible lipstick wearer so I find it much easier to wear.
I must have gone through every brand to find a favourite, and I def didn’t mind the ‘soft lips’ ones for a while either.

  8. Little Earth Group proudly designs eco friendly products combining world”™s safety & style. Our products include jute Bags, cotton Bags, non woven bags, jute handicrafts, and crochet etc.

  9. I, too, have a vast assortment of lip balms in various bags and squirreled around my house. My very favorite is Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter. It adds the perfect amount of moisture and shine without being sticky at all and also happens to come in my favorite flavor combination of all things sweet!

  10. Gaaaah I have all of these except the smiths, kors and benetint….and I really want them now! Especially that benetint…the color looks gorgeous!

  11. I’m a self confessed addict, too. However I have been very happy and loyal to Nivea in strawberry for a few months now. It’s not at all waxy, the flavor is mild but sweet, and the strawberry toned tint is perfect!

  12. I’m a sucker for Lip Smackers Skittles lip balm in Strawberry Starfruit…I have to order it from Ebay now, since it isn’t in stores anymore. Lip balm is literally the one beauty product I cannot live without, and I find random ones hidden away in pockets and bags as well. Glad to know I’m not alone in my obsession!

  13. I’m the same way. I love burts bees and yes to carrots best (I have about 5 of each brand in various “flavors”) though I’ve recently started using eos and i like it…the other day while shopping I saw that chapstick has new “cake batter” and “red velvet” flavors, though I was tempted to try them (just for the experience) I resisted.
