this season was the first time in a few years that i wasn’t able to visit nina in her studio to preview the latest collection during fashion week. it was hard to be away, but she sent me the images from the family affairs fall 2014 lookbook, which served as a bit of consolation. the collection, titled “milk and honey,” was inspired by:
“tea dances in london when you are wearing your patent leather dancing shoes for the first time, marguerite duras’ melancholy romance, silent movie stars in underwater films, witch potions and mornings listening to records in bed while it snows outside. “
i love the other-wordly vibe of this shoot and collection. for the prints, nina created her own alchemy symbols referencing irish fairytales and italian futurism. it’s a fun mix of references. there are plenty of sweet dresses, but i’m also really enjoying the addition of high-rise trousers and some really cool oversized blazers for the season.

That first maxi dress and the blue high-waisted trousers are my favourites.

Beautiful collection! I’ve had my eye out for floor length dresses lately.
Beautiful! Amanda always does such a great job. That model looks a lot like St. Vincent pre hair bleaching! :)
really like the coral and peachy trousers!
Oh boy, these are awesome. Pretty dresses and oversized blazers are right up my street. I think my favourite has got to be the leotard though.
